Des drames humains, relayés sur les réseaux sociaux. Des citoyens s’y engagent pour améliorer la sécurité routière.

Pour avoir des preuves en cas d’accidents, les cyclistes sont de plus en plus nombreux à filmer leurs trajets quotidiens avec des mini-caméras embarquées. Gaëlle Le Garrec a suivi ces cyclistes vidéastes. Ils postent leurs vidéos-chocs pour dénoncer les comportements dangereux dont ils sont victimes et pour faire bouger les pouvoirs publics.

Les motards aussi utilisent Internet comme une arme de prévention. Ils représentent moins de 2% du trafic, mais constituent 43% des blessés graves sur les routes de France. Manon Slomkowski a ému plus de 5 millions d’internautes. Dans sa vidéo, elle montre comment elle réalise les gestes du quotidien malgré son bras paralysé suite à un accident de moto.

À l’origine des accidents, l’erreur humaine est loin d’être le seul facteur. Dans 44 % des cas, l’infrastructure routière est aussi en cause. À Vitry-en-Perthois (Marne), le petit Lino, 6 ans, est mort renversé par une moissonneuse batteuse alors qu’il était sur le trottoir de la rue principale. La mairie n’avait pas mis en place de déviation pour les engins agricoles. Depuis, ses parents se battent pour faire condamner le maire de leur commune.

Autre combat sur la toile : celui contre les grands délinquants routiers. En 2014, à Lyon, Caroline Broc a été amputée de ses deux jambes à cause de l’un d’eux. Le chauffard a pris la fuite. Il était alcoolisé, drogué, en excès de vitesse, sans permis et sans assurance. Aujourd’hui, Caroline Broc se bat via son blog pour que les peines de l’homicide volontaire puissent être appliquées.
À ses côtés, Eric Moreno, de l’association « Et6cetaitvous », qui a perdu sa fille dans des circonstances similaires, essaye de faire de faire changer la loi au niveau national.
