Aujourd'hui, direction la Somme ! Nous voilà entre Rancourt et Bouchavesnes-Bergen, devant la Chapelle-Mémorial de la Première Guerre mondiale. C’est original : on ne se contente pas d’un monument aux morts, d’une plaque commémorative ou d’un musée, mais on entretient une chapelle, donc un lieu de culte religieux. Alors pourquoi ? À l’intérieur, une exposition raconte justement le fait religieux pendant la grande guerre. Car les tranchées ont finalement concentré les soldats métropolitains et tout un tas de gens venus des quatre coins de l’empire colonial, avec chacun leurs croyances et leurs traditions. Confrontés les uns aux autres, mais surtout à la souffrance et à la mort, ils ont connu des questionnements inattendus et des besoins spirituels profonds…
